General is for migration/work, focusing on practical everyday English. Academic is for university, focusing on academic language. General Task 1 is letter writing vs Academic's data description.
Australia and Canada typically require Band 6-7 depending on visa type. Points increase with higher bands. We recommend targeting Band 7+ for better job prospects.
General is not easier, just different. Speaking and listening are similarly difficult, but reading/writing use more familiar, everyday language. Many students find General more relatable.
Total exam is 2 hours 45 minutes: Listening (30 min) + Reading (60 min) + Writing (60 min) + Speaking (11-14 min at separate time). Speaking is on a different day.
